I was worried about the neck pickup too, but it sounded great yesterday at practiceAngryGoldfish wrote:I'm glad you're digging yours. The neck humbucker is still too dark and muffled for my tastes, but it does the job until I can afford to replace it. I think I'm going to leave the bridge pickup alone. It reacts well to dirt, and with some tweaking on my amp doesn't sound as bright or harsh any more.Ancient Astronaught wrote:I had my first band practice with mine yesterday and loved it. The neck p/u's thick and cutting cleans was awesome and then it filled out without being muddy when i kicked on the fuzz, it oddly sounds better through a cranked amp then a bedroom level amp. I'm very impressed by mine, it doesnt have the organic thickness of the telemaster, but that guitar is kind of a one trick pony, the trick is definitely one hell of a trick though.....AngryGoldfish wrote:So the 72 Telecaster has grown on me quite a bit recently. I now intend to keep the guitar, but replace the neck humbucker with a Creamery Classic '71 or a Lollar Regal if I'm feeling adventurous. I haven't even had it professionally set up yet and it's still impressing me. I prefer the Ibanez Artist overall, but it's still a worthwhile instrument.
I'm using a Neovin noiseless bridge pickup which is based on a broadcaster pickup as well. Sounds to me like you like that pick up enough to NOT have to change it, don't spend money where you don't need to.AngryGoldfish wrote:There is actually a Broadcaster-esque aftermarket pickup in the bridge position of mine. That's why I'm so apprehensive about changing it.
Sounds like you got a winner then!!!!AngryGoldfish wrote:Oh, that's cool. Speaking of noiseless, that's another thing I'm impressed with: this bridge single-coil is damn quiet.
WHUT indeed. Ya know who might've been even more in the Vein of Bill Ward than Brad Wilks? BILL FUCKING WARDAxAxSxS wrote:WHUT?

Yea man of course I will need a FAC on there. I scored a ton of the Ge stuff, some of it has HFE 100-200 with sub 20uA leakage.D-Day wrote:Dude why not? THat'll be fun. I have tons of germanium around here but I always think silicon. I should really try my hand at a Buzzaround clone. That's what Aaron plays on stage and it's definitely a rare breed.
