Gimme gimme and the me firsts
The circuit and pcb are done and ready and we're just fine tuning the finish, won't be long!
I saw his comment to Demedash that pt2399s are easier to get than BBDs but didn't see where he said which the new SDD uses. The old one was 2399s.coupleonapkins wrote: it's an analog pedal (BBD chips, switch relay) that's digitally controlled
Part of our original line-up in 2005, the SDD is an ambient delay pedal featuring modulated and heavily filtered (and degraded at long delay times) repeats and this is the sweetest and smoothest sounding version yet. It uses a vintage noise suppressor chip for very low noise with its retro repeats, up to about 1.25 seconds max delay time.
We've added a couple new features to it too, the SDD now has a wet/dry mix control and a unique low pass/high pass filter tone control for the repeats. There's also expression input for the mix and the user can fine tune the range of the Repeats and Mod Depth controls to dial in the perfect wiggly wash of repeats. The second stomp can either turn the modulation on/off or it can be used to ramp the repeats to max setting.
The delay chip itself is a classic piece of digital history, the PT2399, but otherwise the SDD has all analog features, even for its soft touch switching. Our goal was to make the SDD hopefully able to withstand the kinds of parts shortages we saw this year which were so limiting.
The finish is a tribute to our home in BC, the lovely Okanagan Valley, done in a style that plays on the vinyl finishes of our old days.
The new SDD will be heading to stores soon, I still have to email 'em all and we'll get some en route to demo people asap. We'll be building and shipping them this month for sure though! (Dealers and demo people feel free to hit me up if you're interested and don't want to wait to hear from me, thanks!)
Confirmed on Instagram that the new one is also pt2399 so not analog, in the technical sense. Not BBDs. I love a long crunchy pt2399, though.oldangelmidnight wrote:I saw his comment to Demedash that pt2399s are easier to get than BBDs but didn't see where he said which the new SDD uses.
