I've been feeling that hiphop has been on some roll lately. I liked some 90s stuff before but like many others here I went was listening to metal and noisy music. But like death grips and run the jewels made hiphop my most listened to genre, and I feel like a lot of new stuff is coming up.
Injury Reserves By the time I get to Phoenix might be my pick for album of the year. It sounds like some new shit to me. I get some 65daysofstatic vibes on some tracks.
Anything el-p produced im likely to like. There’s a lot of new stuff like this coming out now also, maybe you’d like Ka, Armand hammer or Mach hommy or something.
Yeah that track called Superman that on this injury reserve album I posted is def some 65dos style stuff, but someone rapping over it? Crazy

This LFO remix is still an all-timer
Dude I feel so much of this. Earl is one of my absolutely favorites, and I am super excited to see Thierra Whack come out with new stuff.
It is crazy nobody has found that secret earl/alchemist album yet. I cannot imagine that is anything short of amazing, because I am not sure alchemist has made a bad beat. Earl has done similar things in the past though, like with solace
I will listen to these antipop consortium things, sounds very interesting!!
My brother has kids with her sister, so Cece is my extended fam:
She's not like that in person at all, but she knows the act because she has lived it, and I think she's the realest thing that her niche has to offer, honestly. She's from a real hardcore hood family. I went for thanksgiving dinner at their mom's house once, dad was just out of jail, brothers and cousins still in. Her brothers and cousins used to jack other people's deals Omar style. I don't know if I'll ever get her over here for some recording, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. She lives with her sister and my brother's kids, and the kids are meeting here for visits with their dad/my brother (who also just got out of jail) semi-regularly now, and they just fell in love with the Arturia sounds the other day. So, maybe something sometime, we'll see. Right now I don't think she even knows that I fuck with music at all...
Fcknoise knows I love the 90s Memphis Rap. I've been preaching about how good that stuff is for years.... to be honest, I saw HUSTLE AND FLOW when I was 16 or something and went down the rabbit hole... now listening at 31... I think I know where a lot of my sensibilities came from and why I like things like sound collage.
I have to be honest, to me... a Tommy Wright album has so much in common with something like MUSLIMGAUZE. I think in retrospect, in some way, Memphis rap is what got me into Noise and Power Electronics.
There was this one tape, I can't seem to find where... you know how some rap songs have a gun cocking or shooting as rhythmic elements? There was one where the guy basically emptied the clip.. and didn't keep time! It was equally hilarious and horrifying.

When i was working my shitty paperboy job a couple years ago i got super into memphis shit and old school electro industrial. kinda paffed by how nobody wants to admit how triple six were the truest to keeping skinny puppy's legacy of horror sample ridden madness alive. i knew a guy who shared a megashare folder on tumblr once that had like 300 memphis tapes on it. so upset i cant find it.
Bumping to probably talk to myself but anyone jammin that new Conway or anything else worthwhile? I thought it was pretty good but a few songs weren't as solid but the more I listen the more it's growing on me. I actually like the mixtape he dropped the week before a little better. Also felt that same way about the new Earl and Curren$y shit that dropped recently too.
IDK, been jammin that stuff along with a lot of Rome Streetz and Jpegmafia a lot but figured I'd dig into some of this stuff mentioned in this thread since I someone how missed it until a few days ago.
