I would say I like current Dinosaur Jr more than the “classic stuff” but this one feels like they phoned it in a bit. It’s not even bad, it’s just EXACTLY like the last few albums. Like I really felt like I had heard a few of the songs before.

I don’t even think it’s that the music is the issue, it’s that the lyrics are.... EXACTLY the same as every other record? Like you got good tone but take a chance and branch out boys! Every song is “I did something bad but I hope we can work it out”? Write a song about some aliens or just jam it out a bit?
Their lyrics have always seemed to be scratch lyrics that no one ever bothered to come back and finish.

I still love them.

Yeah I am a fan. Maybe this is a grower. I’m not always in the mood for them so maybe in a couple of months it’ll hit me right.

A Dino Jr album full of songs about aliens would be great, though.

In a Dutch Haze! Great record. Worth noting that Isiah (Earthless's guitarist) wasn't playing for that set though, and he seems to be pushing the guys towards a more generic blues rock vibe (IMO, I think the early Earthless stuff is brilliant but the new stuff doesn't do it for me).
good deals are here.

As always I agree 100% with everything you are saying here. Haven’t felt the Earthless love in a long time!! I love that the drummer is also in OFF!

Loved the demo, this has Gorguts/Suffocation tech chuggo slam all over it. It’s great. It’s not for “atmospheric” riffless death metal fans. It’s very good. Very “NYC”.

I had a feeling this would be right up your alley…. I’m pretty picky about brutal DM but this hits every marker for me.

I rocked out to Leatherface - Mush today - Half way in the record immediately had me, no so much after the police cover but I am under slept today so I am going to give it a few spins. A total hidden Jem.

Listened today. This is fire.
Drums sound great. Good mix of skronk and slam. It felt surprisingly original. Great recommendation.

New VOLA is dropping soon. I’m very pumped.

Yeah it’s a real gem. I was watching a live vid on YouTube, they were super tight. I used to be hot and cold with the ignorant groovy chuggo slam NYC sound but it’s sounding like a breath of fresh air currently after the riffless cavern bands from the last few years. I love the gore soaked stuff the best like Miasmatic Necrosis and Fluids…. Give me songs about having your fucking head chopped off any day over some occult spooky stuff and some chanting….
