Good for you doommeow!

Hey all, been a long time eh? I got my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I'm working in substance abuse counseling, but just until I find something more therapeutic that's not linked in with parole/probation/family court.

I just built my first DIY pedal kit and it worked!!! I know it's nothing in the scheme of things, but I've wanted to build a pedal for a LONG time and I've even had the kit kicking around for a while...and have a knack for starting projects and moving onto the next before getting to the finish line, so in a lot of ways this is a bit of a big deal for me. In any event, I'm super pumped about it.

I'm also really excited to have signed up for ILF secret santa for the first time this year.

We finally got ourselves a hifi setup today after going around looking, listening and saving up for a good few years. Spent a lot more than intially intended but very happy with both sound and looks, but also very happy cause of how we took our time to discuss, decide and listen together on our way towards actually buying.

Went to my first "proper"/indoor shows in 17 months Thursday/yesterday. Put on my thoughtful/trustworthy folks. Conscientious crowds, reduced capacities, good protocols. It felt weird but good. Saw some faces (or half of some masked faces inside) and got to see some people in my community for the first time in ages.

Yeah...the return to seeing a real concert again was absolutely incredible. I saw my first outdoor shows this summer and when the band came out, it actually brought tears of joy to my eyes to have my veins filled with loud live music again!

First indoor shows were a few weeks ago...saw 3 in the span of one week. It was a lot less comfortable. I saw more masks at the outdoor shows in August, but getting back to normalish is so huge.

So a few weeks in we're still absolutely ecstatic! We spend a lot less time watching shit on netflix or youtube or on our phones "just because" and a lot more time listening to music together and chatting about life. Got to go through two boxes of my mum and dad's old records today too so (re)discovering some stuff from my (very) early childhood that I barely or don't remember at all, haha. Before that I've listened to some of my favourite music and almost had that same feeling as when I first fell in love with it. My closest comparison must be when I bought myself my first proper pair of headphones a few years ago. My love for music is just as intense as it was 10 years ago and I feel sooo at home and content with it. [insert ugly dude with a silly smile here]

The year is almost coming to a close and I am REALLY happy with how I am playing two years in - still no music theory has stuck in my head and dispite a lot of wasted opportunities - I was jamming on my EVH at store with my daughter yesteday and it was sounding like almost music :)

Bought my first pedal in a few years, a used EQD Ghost Echo. I've been playing every day and enjoying music again. Never going to go back to my old amount of gear, but a Strat, an amp, and a couple of pedals is pretty nice. I can't believe how much this place has changed in the last 4-5 years. I guess I won't be getting a used Mini any time soon.
