if you want a guitar that sounds like a proper Jazzmaster avoid the Mascis model; its pickups are more like a P90 than a Jazzmaster PU, with narrower bobbins that don't produce the kind of wide-range sound as proper JM pickups. i also don't like the forward-shifted tremolo, but then my Squier CVJM came with the upgraded Mustang-style Fender bridge so i've never had a problem with strings popping out. i did have to shorten the saddle-length (or whatever you call them...the ones that you use for intonation) screws because i couldn't get decent action without the strings rattling against the ends of the screws. i tried everything, but that was the only thing that worked.

Hey thanks, after my initial post I went down the rabbit hole and did further research about JM in general and decided I m gonna grab a CV. The pickups are one of the reasons, but also bridge radius and other things. I just have to wait until I see one popping up for cheap
