Q-tuner pickups?

Postby Benn Roe » Sun May 26, 2019 12:24 pm

Anyone tried these? Know anything about them? Based on the buzzword-soup descriptions on their site they seem like they could be cool, and they have pickups for a variety of different string counts. And not that it's ultimately a big factor, but I also think they look really sweet. As usual for pickups, though, the demo videos online are completely useless, so I figured I'd see if anyone here had any insight.

I'm considering one in the context of a solo bridge pickup for a baritone, maybe.

They are awesome if you are into high fidelity alembic type tones though low-output. If you use use distortion: think twice, the high end doesnt cut out like a regular guitar pickup so if you distort it you get an insane amount of harmoincs. I know some people have gotten around this by putting a high cut cap on a switch
imagine finding out your son is your daughter & she's into noise music

I tried one and it was super microphonic, like use the guitar as a vocal mic microphonic. It took a while, but they gave me my money back, without ever saying whether or not that was normal behavior.

The transparent ones look really cool, and I suppose I'd like to give them another shot. Maybe one of these days.
