Absolutely love the looks of that pickups and the whole color coordinated hardware.

what's the trem like compared to a bog-standard Strat trem?

this explains the difference:

I found it enhanced sustain quite a bit, whilst actually shaving off weight because the trem block is smaller. The saddles are also more comforable to rest your palm against.
I also found it just as annoying to set up and just as underwhelming to wiggle around as a bog-standard strat trem.
Worthy upgrade in terms of sound+playability, but not function. Super-sonic with a JM trem is the dream..

i thought the recent Jazz Tele was great, but not $1800 worth of great. i'm hoping for price drops, because few of the Pawn Shop/Alternate Universe models seem to been very successful. and lacking a router, it would be waaaaay too hard to do myself.

With a sharp chisel and a hand drill works well enough. You can get routing bits for a conventional drill but i find they dont work that well for routing

Really cool. Curious: why have you chosen that pickup configuration?

i love those period Univox guitars. they had the best model names; i was too bashful to buy the Super Stud. but i saw a Les Paul-oid called the Gimme.

Because why not? The originals came with two humbucker sized pickups side by side in the bridge and near-bridge locations, however they had a blade in the center of them, leading me to believe they might be single coils. I happened to have the Phat Cats in my parts bin and they fit the look of the original and sound great.

Yeah, technically this one is a Univox Lucy (because of all the lucite).
