can someone tell me more about this.

* Was it a one-off or are there batches made a couple of times a year?
* what would you compare it to? If you had to replace it, what would you replace it with?

It was a one off run made to release with the Cymbals Eat Guitars album Lose. No more have ever been made.

As for comparisons, I've not owned one I've only tried a friend's for ten minutes or so so I didn't get a great feel for it

I've owned one and got rid of it. It is a typical pt delay sound, and with some interesting ways to bend the delay sound.

I'd say Midfi electronics, a claripirate could do most of that stuff and even more. Maybe see if Doug can make one with stupid long delay time.

I've got one and I like it a lot.
It gets a longer delay than any pt2399 I've encountered. I like the noise and destruction that comes from the long delays. The other thing I would recommend for that sound is the Kinkilin from Copilot. It has a knob to add in that noise.
I haven't found anything else that has the kind of envelope control it does. I love being able to switch between two settings, one a short almost reverb and the other a long glitchy noise fest.
I wish it was more reliable. Sometimes it just doesn't work and I need to unplug and replug the power.

Yeah, mine never worked right. The settings that were supposed to be bypassed with the second switch always affected the other settings, even when bypassed
And the PT chip would lock itself and like you say OAM I had to power cycle.

I guess if you go to a glitch party, you need to expect some glitching...
