Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt is my favourite. Saw them about 15 years ago, stood about 6 feet from him as he played. (if you've been to a LB show you'll know they don't usually play on a stage even if the venue has one. Everyone crowds around. Bass amp in your face? Too bad, deal with it.) He hits hard as fuck for the speed he plays and for being a wee skinny lad. It sounded like a gatling gun.
Zach Hill when he was in Hella too, for pretty much the same reasons.
I don't know the guy's name, but the drummer from Manatees (sludge band from northern England) is also rad. He played the shit out of the biggest drum kit I've ever seen. He used two modified floor toms as rack toms, and then this absolutely massive tub as a an actual floor tom. It looked like an oil barrel. I played a show with them up in Scotland, I could hear their soundcheck from about 200 yards up the road from the venue. Their set was so loud I felt at risk of shitting myself.
