We'll be getting these out to a few stores over the next couple weeks and then I think we'll be up for doing a few for any ILFers who are interested. And yeah... the LED changes colours. All night.

Looks great! Spring Chicken, or Raindropberator? Uh oh. Naughty thoughts a-brewin' of spending more money that I shouldn't be spending.

I still think I prefer this paint job though. :D

Oh man, that looks awesome, Ryan! They really did a good job of capturing the feeling of the handmade vinyl on the rest of the Dr Scientist lineup. :thumb:

AH HAAAA! so THAT's where all the dark blue knobs went!!!!

i seriously love the fact that you guys put so much into these pedals that i would strongly consider buying MULTIPLES of the exact same pedals just to be able to appreciate the artwork and design..... i mean seriously, how is this NOT distracting while playing:

THAT is not just effects, that's art.....

Guys, there's a bit of a problem with these enclosures that we've uncovered last night. We missed it over the last couple days as we were so excited to finally be making these that we treated them super gingerly with kid gloves and assumed they were perfect and up to snuff.

Turns out the ink on these rain drops boxes is really fragile. I personally think they used a wrong kind of ink on these boxes. They can be smudged far too easily with a thumb and a few drops of rubbing alcohol will totally wipe out the finish. It's not how durable a properly screen printed box should be and we don't feel at all comfortable sending them to stores like that.

We've built 20 so far... they look fantastic just like in the picture above and if treated carefully will be problem free, but they can't go to stores and we'd never sell them without fair warning. We're going to do a blem sale here on ILF for them at a discounted price, starting right away or whenever anybody's interested in one.

Our plan for the remaining 100 rain drop boxes is to have Tanya clear coat them in the same layer of clear vinyl that she uses on our regular pedals. It's not an ideal solution but it makes the finishes nearly indestructible... you can rub it until your thumb wears off and you won't be hurting the layers underneath. Rubbing alcohol will just make it look nice and shiny and clean, not hurt it at all.

For the upcoming batches of enclosures we'll be back to looking around locally for a place we can work with. We have some leads again and will make sure this time to do this stuff in person and to not get so excited about them that we skip testing them for durability.

So a little speed bump here but not the end of the world.. definitely something we can have a plan b for and something we've learned from too. Our goal with these boxes is for them to be very durable and we won't stop until they are.

PS - Stan, sweet pic!

well handled ryan, life is all about those little speed bumps (and a great big brick wall every now and again) but this is an example of what i've been saying from the get-go:

DR. SCIENTIST= OUTSTANDING BUILDERS!!!!

and your "loss" is ILF's "gain" because a bunch of people are gonna get some great pedals... who cares if the paint chips off easy, have you seen BJFE pedals? it's what's inside....

I see a custom paint job if I can get my hands on one of these
