My canary died tonight.

Her name was Claire. When I first got her from the pet store, I named her Clarence, (after my late grandfather) because they said she was a male. Then a few weeks later she laid an egg.

She was adorable and she was one of a few female canaries who actually sang. I'm gonna miss her..

Normally I wouldn't make a big deal about this kinda thing, but as some of you know, 2009 was a particularly shitty year for me, and this is just not the way I wanted to bring in 2010. Bummer.

Two days ago I was at the mall just chillin with my friends, when this one kid Aviv starts going on about how he's 'so bored he wants to sacrifice a small animal' and as he continues my phone rings. It's my mom. "Hi, Mom" etc. She tells me that moments ago my 14-year old parrot died.

we always had birds in the house. we had a real cool canary named Flutie. I used to love to hear him sing. even though he died 13 years ago, i can still hear him sing if i think about it.

Aw, man - I'm sorry to hear that as well. I dread the notion of any of my pets dying, even the cats that I curse at all the time. Let's hope that 2010 gets better from here on out...

Sorry for your loss.... i lost my cat in september and it always leaves me a pit perplexed by the relationship a human being can have with a pet... they don't use words, they can't understand you.... they just feel your emotion and gauge off of that, something human beings tend to tune out because they are avoiding their feelings.... so when you lose them it's a pain on a completely different level.....

hang in there, it's been proven time and time again that no matter how much crap you go through there are always better days waiting....
