Maybe we should make one!

How hard could it be?

Well... o.k. Probably pretty hard.

Oh well. :mope:

maybe this should be directed at Tom but since you're here
would it be possible to host music here? remember the blogs? that sort of thing, maybe for a small fee or something?
it would draw traffic, promote the businesses of all our builders and give us a good /genuine/ place to share our stuff with a community worth being in

I don't know much about coding, but my band used a free flash player for our site, and it worked out pretty well... dunno if patching it into the ILF setup would work... but I've seen it used in a lot of places:

Might get messy with bandwidth, but yeah, I love that idea. ILF "records". A dedicated sub forum for each artist who wants to host their own discussion / ability to post their songs (like I'm doing at neverorforever.com).

I say we do it. :thumb:

I suppose that if worse came to worse, instead of having bunches of embedded flash players, artists could just put their tracks up as mp3s... but then you'd be giving away your mp3s, which some people might not be into...

yeah it occurred to me, it's why i suggested the small fee
maybe not even the word "fee" but "suggested donation (or we break your kneecaps)"
to help keep up things running smoothly yo
and yeah kinda like the NoF site, just as subforums....somewhere on here lol

jrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:
yeah if you aint down with giving away your music you might not be down for this idea
but then again if you're looking to sell you're on itunes and myspace anyway lol

True 'nuff... and I am on itunes and myspace... but I end up giving away plenty fo' free anyhow

But if we can get an easy flash player to work within the ILF framework, then whether peeps give stuff away or just stream it is up to them... power to the people, yo!

Either way, I think that this is an awesome idea - a great & logical step towards making the ILF community the awesomest thing on the interwebs... or, uh, more awesomest...

i find myself being paranoid whenever i actively download an mp3 from a forum or any site in general. viruses or spyware or whatever. i think a lot of people are turned off by the process and an actual flash player would definitely attract more people than a forum loaded with music files.

also, i think just giving away the mp3s would be silly because we already have a forum loaded with mp3 files. but i guarantee you that the casual lurker is more likely to just hunt down somebody's myspace and click it. if we had a type of flash media groove then someone (myself included) would be eager to just do the ol' point, click, and jamm.

I'm too down with this idea. Myspace won't let me change my url. :(
