Hey Everyone.

I’ve been away for too long. Basically some things happened and I could barely communicate but I wish to rememdy this.

None of that matters.

What does matter is I am out of the loop in a big way.

Anybody who has the patience care to fill me in on the awesomeness I’ve been missing out on?

I took a break for a little over a year too... but I'm going to pretend nothing really happened that year. Here are some cliff notes.
1. Uncle Grandpa renamed as BOB but left the forum.
2. Lots of folks have sold off pedals and gone the Eurorack route
2.B. Yet there is only one thread for it?
3. This thread IS VERY IMPORTANT viewtopic.php?f=149&t=55999
3.B. You will learn the terms $22, Soy Boy, and Boss Man (there are more Boss Man threads)
4. Comesect 2.0 join in 2016 and got banned for life in 2019 (he had a quote in my sig for a while that I still think is hilarious. I just ran out of room and wanted to put the PINK FLAMINGOS quote)
5. A bunch of drama threads somewhere in the Summer and Fall of 2017. It was just an extension of the news and culture at the time.
6. Arby's is back and it's better than ever.
7. This one is a good time too viewtopic.php?f=42&t=56194
8. Some of us are borderline sexually attracted to ring mods
9. Chank and Dandolin post a lot of jazz
10. A lot of old posters now how pedal companies sort of (JonnyAngle, DRod, and UglyCasanova [sort of?])
11. Count To Fives (Used to be Goodbye 24) used to sell out, flip at insane prices, but that doesn't happen anymore.
12. Pedal flipping in general got kind of silly for 18 months. It still does, but it does not elicit the same response on a group level.
13. Echorec posts a lot of modern day happenings in the gear world (It's a NAMM thread). Very useful. A bunch of us chime in and talk shit. (This is actually one of my favorite things on the forum... maybe the internet in general)
14. Wittigenstein was also perm banned. He kind of came and went. (I thought he was funny)
15. An ILF Discord was made which diverted a lot of site traffic.

I think that's it?

16. It's worth noting there was a thing about spin chips for a minute I guess.
17. There is an ILF Podcast now, sort of...
18. Eivind completed the Tri-Force of Oscillo Fuzz (THIS WAS HUGE TBH)
19. BILF is a thing
20. People have meet ups
21. If I had to make a hypothesis, as the fake cultural anthropologist, a lot of ILF culture extended to reddit and other forums, and OG ILFers down sized. People don't hype shit as much anymore. It seems like not many count down days to pre-orders. I don't know. (At this point I am generalizing and speculating).

Honestly, there are maybe like 45 active posters here these days... it's actually kind of nice

I've been dealing with a split right down the centre of the thumb on my right hand (guitar-picking hand).
This has not impacted ILF at all, but has been annoying me for five months.

I've tried a few moisturizers and haven't found anything to solve the problem yet.
But I've found some interesting articles about the problem.

I was thinking of more stuff that happened too Adoom...
22. Then the Chase Bliss Pitch shifter thing came out... it was around the time another $500 pedal came out. A lot of folks here were kind of like "WTF... why are pedals getting so damn expensive" Actually... it was a pretty unanimous WTF. A couple other builders chimed in. It was cool.
23. BetterOffShred has a really cool build thread going... it's on hiatus
24. I guess Instagram is bigger than ever in putting your product / demos out there.
25. A lot more people do the "Knobs" style demo. The "knobs" shot.
26. Builders use crowd funding "successfully" now. (My bias... this is just fucking beyond me... support my pedal... so you can go out and buy it)
27. Reverb (the site) exploded exponentially (I'm citing from 2015 on?
28. Granular Delays became the new shimmer reverb
29. This is anecdotal but... it seems to me (via BILF and "Show Your Pedal Board" thread) that SMALLSOUND BIGSOUND Mini is the most unanimously liked pedal... ever.

30) Metal Zones became cool again
31) DOD Death Metal is cooler than the HM-2 now
32) somehow a “Waza Craft tuner” is a thing
33) Waze is better than google maps, essentially the Waza Craft of driving apps
34) Mantic pedals are really expensive
35) Craft beer is out, pickles are in
36) (maybe this is just me) I have lost my obsession for hot sauce and moved onto grainy mustard on EVERYTHING
37) I still don’t understand what a granular delay is but the shimmer reverb sound is THE WORST
38) Pedal demo shows are huge but Pedals & Effects remains the only YouTube channel I watch regularly (okay and JHS Pedals sometimes even though I’m not 100% sure of that guy is or isn’t a Christian fundamentalist).
39) People thought a Waza HM-2 was coming and lost their minds for 20 minutes (it didn’t happen).

I'm going to second all of the above. My peer and now colleague retinal orbita is correct. I would like to some of his points though.
30. They were never NOT COOL in my book!
31. Again, they were always cooler FOR ME. But "Yes" now they're widely accepted as cooler.
33. OH EM GEE... it really is!
34. Why are they so expensive? Seriously? (*Builder enters and starts spewing Henry Rollins-esq rhetoric)
35. FUCK YEAH THEY ARE!
36. I'm big on white trash mustard myself... sorry Europeans... my mustard comes in plastic containers.
...
38. I did not want to like the JHS Show... but I do. I actually have learned some new things in all his vlogs.

This should have been on the top of my list but
40. Lame ass fake chase bliss company made people fill out applications to get their lame ass pedal. If it sounds like I'm perturbed about it... it's cause I am. It's not that I wanted the lame ass pedal.. I didn't. I'm not even upset at the principal that people "did" fill out the application to get it. This is fucking capitalism... shit should be easy to buy. We're not rationing chocolate 1943 Europe or building wells in the Congo.. this is a pedal. The Marcel Proust in me wants to sum it up in one sentence... "Prove you're a douche bag so you can buy our douchey pedal."

Pedalboard minimalism is in, eurorack maximalism is in, and synths with keyboards are somehow less appealing that synths with no keys

Purple is still the best color
