Alternatives to YouTube?

Hi,
What are some good video-watching alternatives to YouTube? I’ve been researching the very new peertube which is a peer-to-peer decentralized video-sharing platform which takes away power from the congloms. I can access some of the content on
https://peertube.video ... sounds like an interesting idea.

That’s a good one ... I want to start producing vids but don’t want to necessarily feed the congloms ... I hate the idea of contributing to a media monoculture ...

While far from perfect, youtube is still the only good one imo. Though you can argue some of the t.o.s are too strict or copyright claims are running wild, it's not a monoculture. There's still tons of weird and less polished content there (unless your country is censored). Plus you can always use adblock (uBlock is a good one) if that's your issue.

If you want a quality platform without feeding "the man", vimeo is about as good as it gets, IMO. Can't have your cake and eat it too, unfortunately, but Vimeo gives you way less compression that YT for a few bucks a month and no ads, so you're not supporting shit you don't agree with, unless you disagree with Vimeo as a business.

I like Vimeo's format. Seriously thinking of subscribing as soon as I have some worthwhile vids … but I am really digging the concept of PeerTube and would like to just be a host for the time-being ...

I'd love to see some pedal-related content streamed on Twitch.
(Owned by Amazon, however, so, it's likely out of the question.)

I don't think Amazon is the problem there, it's that almost nobody watches that type of content. Especially on twitch, which is a platform that is notorious for favoring e-girls/gamers.
It's possible of course, but you would have to be extremely dedicated, consistent and entertaining to build any sort of a following beyond like 10 of your friends.

Dude, make that channel before somebody else does. And then start building epic castle sets and look for thousands of extras to make the sickest 1hr demos ever! Imagine battle of the metal pedals with an actual full-on battle, denim-clad horses crushing Metal Zones, catapults hurling Marshall full stacks while you shred on the ramparts with a crossbow guitar (and a cape of course).
