hi guys, new user here (but long time reader).
I'm looking for a new amp for my recording studio, something super loud and with a huge low-end, roughly in the same ballpark of a vintage model T but obviously cheaper. I found both a Peavey Rockmaster and a Roadmaster which have quite a good reputation in the doom community. Which one would you recommend? Cabs are a classic Orange 4x12 with V30s and a vintage noname 2x12 from the Sixties with a Emi Screamin' Eagle and a WGS ET90.

I’m not familiar with the rockmaster. I’m guessing they’re identical except one will have a different feature than the other I.e. tremolo, reverb etc.

I pretty much exclusively use peavey amps. They are great at projecting what they’re given. No frills or colorstion

All I know of the Roadmaster is that Sonic Youth used them forever so I'm guessing they're pretty hardy.

I've never messed with a Roadmaster but the Rockmaster might be the loudest 100 watts I've ever experienced. The Rock- is super small and lightweight which is nice if you're gonna be tossing it up on a stack. It's a no-frills amp that will take whatever you throw at. I ended up selling mine to a friend since I only got to really turn it up at one gig and the rest of the time it was overkill. They're a great value for sure.

Could also look into a Laney AOR. (aka buy mine)

Rockmaster is 120 watts, Roadmaster is 160 watts. I have both but haven't been able to play them in a while (new baby in the house). They're both LOUD, the Roadmaster almost painfully so. Roadmaster has eq for both channels, an ok reverb, and an effects loop. Rockmaster is more basic. Honestly unless you really think you need the extra 40 watts and features of the Roadmaster, the Rockmaster should make you plenty happy. I only have both because a week after I got the Roadmaster the Rockmaster popped up on craigslist for $150. They both take pedals well. The Roadmaster is heavy as hell (are there any other heads with three handles on top?). Plus with 12 tubes it can be pretty expensive to retube.
