Need Eminence speaker recommendations.

Post by diocide »

Looking at Emimnence speakers to make up a new cab.

I’m looking to do an X pattern. Get two to cover the lows and two for the highs.

Seems like Swamp Thangs and Texas heats seem to be a good combo.

Im mainly looking at Eminence since I get really good pricing on them, so I’d like to stick with that particular brand.

Any suggestions?

I use Swamp Thangs and Wizards and it’s pretty much the perfect combo IMO... low growl yet articulation when needed.

I also have this combo and find it agreeable. some people say the wizards need a little breaking in.

I've got Texas Heats and they are killer.

They don't break up easily, so you can hit them with lots of distortion and lots of volume. They don't do icepick eardrum bullshit like V30s either. I usually tune to D standard and drop C, but have played in B standard without a problem.

Another vote for Swamp Thang/Wizard X-combo.

Great! Wizards and Texas Heats seem to compliment bass heavy speakers, so I’m going to try those out first.

Thanks!

Probably in the minority here, but Private Jacks are some of my favorite speakers ever. And I've had a lot (LOT) of speakers for loud, downtuned music (been doing that specifically since late '90s).

Christ I'm old.

Are you guys recommending wizards purely because they are called wizards, or are they actually good?

I have one in a 212. The cab sounds good. Wizard and Swamp Thing paired up.

But yeah, also called Wizard. :idk:

I've got a 2x12 with Texas Heats.

Maybe I should throw some wizards in the other. Or Swamp things. Or both.
Wonder if that would sound good or whack, with 3 different speakers in 2 2x12s stacked.
Hmm.

More is always more, so I should probably just do it.

Just curious - but what type of pricing do you get? I am planning on getting a Swamp Thang to replace a faulty Texas Heat but am waiting until I can get a better price. Just wondering what type of deals there are out there to be had on Eminence.
