At first they were like “yeah we’ll see what happens” and then one of the other bands, who would probably be asked to play anyway, started sponsoring (paying to promote) posts saying “we’re in first let’s keep it that way” even though I don’t think they ever actually were. After that started happening they decided to actually try to go for it. It’s a little petty but it would be a small win in a local music scene popularity contest
