So, uh, anyone know what the fuck people are talking about? :poke:
There's a ton of shit about the back cover and alternate reality games and alternate universes... clearly, I should've spent more time looking into NIN/Trent Reznor when I was younger. :whoa:

I love it. Trent has gone in the same direction as a lot of my favorite artists, SCI/FI. Because let's face it, it just predates what might and possibly will happen in some case. Ray Bradbury wrote of rockets long before they were constructed or even believed to be possible at all. Strange stuff. And Matt Pike's new direction once he got sober. I went to a talk from DJ Spooky a few years back now at the EMP in Seattle and he had some strange things to say about science fiction writers and the NW area. It was an interesting moment in a talk mostly about his new music app and how technology can be used in new ways. Anyways, the back cover has some interesting stuff in there. And kind of ties into these patents: http://rense.com/general3/patent.htm

But I'm excited he's going more retro with this release. Brings me back to growing up in the 80's.

Just to nitpick, rockets have been around since the 13th century. :poke:

but he did predict quite a many things that were not there yet or he saw them made better in his stories.

I love it too man. The nerdiness has got me all hot and bothered. I'm a HUGE Trent fan. I'm just waiting with sweaty palms for them to release the fucking record version. UGH.

I'm liking this EP a lot. :thumb:

Edit: I just scrapped a song I had almost finished because it has the same ending sequences as The Background World, damn you Trent! :grumpy:

Science fiction is usually "predictive" because it influences the culture to come.

Not really into the NIN record but at least the fans are back to checking bathrooms for flash drives.

I've always wanted to get into NIN, the few albums that i've listened to is pretty good.

Seems right up my alley.

Oh man, I'm definitely into the whole ARG thing and really wish I could have been into the Year Zero stuff.
I still haven't had a chance to listen to the new EP though. I think I'll throw it on and start reading through that thread

Well, I listened through the EP twice and I absolutely love it. The Background World is great!
Made it to page 7 of the thread...obsession is growing :erm:
