A Disturbing, New Development on Reverb.com

I've been a Reverb Member for over 2 years and have generally sold items in gleeful ignorance of how they operate. Something happened today that absolutely caught my attention.

I noticed that an Ableton bundle that I did not authorize was automatically added to my last two listings. This would not have been an issue if it did not interfere with my ability to create my own bundles. Also, the more I ponder this situation, it is clear that Reverb is using my listings to sell their items. How is that ethical in any way, shape, or form?

I actually contacted one of their tech support people via chat, and he referred to this as "improvements" to their bundling feature.

Apparently, you do not sell on Reverb ... Reverb sells on you.

I saw this on one of my listings yesterday.

Contacted and they refused to remove it. "Uhhhhhhh but seriously, remove it?" And then radio silence.

Back to eBay and Craigslist I guess, for now at least.

I've been wondering how this was working.

I wondered if they'd asked permission of sellers before doing it. Apparently not. :idk:

The Ableton bundles appeared without the consent of any Reverb members. Given how botched the launch of this latest "improvement" has been, I'm guessing Reverb will "accidentally" charge sellers additional fees for the added cost of their unauthorized bundled merchandise. This is fucked, plain and simple.

I was wondering why I kept seeing this "bundle" on every listing I looked at yesterday. Yeah, I totally want Ableton Live to go with this obscure $2000 guitar amp. Pretty fucked up.

Also, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but photos and links to items in people's feedback haven't been showing up for me. :idk:

Probably intentional.
They've done all they can to hide shit so they don't look bad for hiking the prices up like fucking crazy on "the mothership".

Also, complain to ableton directly. They are probably paying for that.

Open any new Reverb listings on their full website that have been posted in the past 24 hours, and you should see a $9 Ableton bundle offer ... that no members agreed to have automatically added to their listings by Reverb.

I think they're trying to push people into the reverb software selling with the deal. I don't see reverb as a popular option versus pro audio retailers, direct, or pluginboutique. Seeing as how they add nothing new besides a middleman.
