I used to be a major fishnerd and had 30 aquariums in the basement, but that's a long ass time ago. What do you need advice on? I still remember some stuff, tho not much.

jeebus, that's a ton! guy helping me at petsmart yesterday has 10 and i thought that was nuts.

i'm just having an odd curse with a 50g tank left in the garage by my place's previous tenants. its water keeps clouding green. it isn't algae on the walls and gravel. sample i took in yesterday, he said its chems were fine but thought it was odd how he could tell it was shaded green. emptying and starting again...

my other one's doing fine aside from how the chick who sold me its starter goldfish apparently gave me way too many for the tank's size.

Yeah, I might have been a lonely kid.

My advice is to stop pissing in the aquarium.

I don't have one myself, but i think that it's good practice after a total water change to let the tank sit and acclimate. Like, for a week or so before adding fish. Supposedly that will help stuff settle. Also goldfish are dirty as fuck.
You has a filter?

My GF used to be really into it. Her tanks were super slick, imo:

Those fish tanks'd be more aesthetically pleasing if there were a MS-20 Mini in 'em. :idk:

yeah, i've done a couple weeks without fish. my other, smaller tank is doing fine. and yeah, one filter in the 20g, two in the 50.
i've been told by a couple people who're big into this that goldfish are what to start out with just to get things set and ready for others (which, yeah, is basically sacrificing dirt cheap fish).

this is the 20.

I was for many years. Last summer I finally sold my last one, a 180 gallon monster that was just sitting empty, filled with water and pumps cycling to keep the seals from drying out but otherwise was just wasted energy.

I miss it, but it's so stupid expensive to keep going (especially at that scale).

Anyways, be very wary if you had an old tank, especially a bigger one, that's sat dry for a long time. The sealant will dry out and then all that weight will cause it to split. Watch for leaks or seeps and realize there's always the possibility of a complete blowout. 50 gallons of stinking fish water soaking into your carpet isn't something you want to clean up. I cracked the bottom pane of a 55g once with a rock put down at teh wrong angle.
