What is the longest you've gone without internet?

I think the internet is the paradigm shit shift of the universe.

Most people say 9/11 was the turning point where everything started going downhill, but I disagree.

I believe that the internet had started making things shit around 1998-1999 when it was really becoming ubiquitous.

For example: I think about MTV and it was pretty cool until then, and then the internet really started becoming a 'thing' and then there was Puddle of Mudd on MTV.

Has anyone ever gone 1+month completely internet free?

6 months?
Is it possible?

The internet just made you aware of all the shit that was shit.

What was it like? Did you notice anything about how you perceive the world that you think was due to not using the internet?

I cut the cord a couple years ago with cable. I was all proud of myself for no longer watching bullshit TV, then realized very quickly that the Internet was, in fact, filling that role. I hadn't gotten rid of anything, really.

I waste so much time online, it's absurd. And I'm hopelessly addicted. I think about this shit all the time, and it generally drives me crazy.

And to answer your question, no idea how long it's been since I was sans Internet in some form, and it certainly wasn't for very long. Oy.

I was just thinking today that people were more interesting before the internet. :snax:

It was definitely easier to be isolated socially before the internet? But it's also easier to find people in your weird, little niche; enabling you to become even weirder (source: this forum).

I think being online has removed us from our irl communities and made it harder for us to understand and relate to people who have different ideas from our own? Other than that I don't think it's changed society, really. The internet just lets us see all the shitty parts of ourselves easier.

1 year. But it was like 11 years ago, I moved to shitty small ass town and had no $ to pay for anything besides food and rent. I've met lots of people and had the best moments of my life, I blame the drugs tho.

But reality is that I felt I was out of "the loop" until last year, when I opened my facebook account... a whole new level of shit, that can't make it into the forums like this, well, just a bit and that's OK. This whole meme/childish culture is way out of control in facebook that is not even funny, I wish all this stayed in 4chan and the likes.
