PayPal problem

Since a while I have lots of problems with PayPal. Since my last fourth transactions everytime someone send me USD, I receive CND (I’m in Canada)… normally the money wasn’t converted. Since PayPal is not using the accurate money convertion rate, I’m loosing 5 to 10$ each transaction (for a pedal fx) which really makes me mad. I called PayPal services and they lie to me… they said that the sender sent it in CND. Anybody had the same kind of problem with PayPal?
What else can I use other than PayPal to keep selling on the BST without loosing money?

Yep, same problem, I hate them. they confirmed to me they automatically convert the currency now.
I asked them not to do this or to adjust the system in such a way that this doesn't happen with future refunds, no reply at all.
The problem only occurs with refunds though as far as I know so if you ask someone not to refund but to perform a transaction instead it should work out alright.

PayPal is terrible with converting rates. Like I will look at the current rate between USD and yen (or whatever) and when I go to checkout/pay, my dollar is worth 5% less on PayPal....Then, if I get a refund, it happens again (because they do the same thing to the refunder)...A transaction paid in USD, should be refunded in USD, not yen.
They never update their conversion rates and keep them at whatever is beneficial to them...It sucks.
I know mine is a different problem...But I think part of the rate fixing has to do with legalities and money moving. PayPal makes sending money back and forth with no direction too easy and I guess in theory you could make some money just transferring between accounts with exchange rates...At least that's the only reason I can think of(preventing market play and creative laundry).
Maybe it depends if friends/family or services?

It's fucking pain. Cannucks are already taking a $0.34 on the dollar hit... PP fucking around with converting funds and taking even more money is total bullshit. I recently sold some stuff to the US and was intending on putting together an order for Smallbear, using those funds (so I WOULDN'T get completely hosed on exchange); and they fucked that up, royally.
Assholes.

Yep and PayPal told me you sent CAD (which is not the case). So they are liar and they won't resolve my problem.
If I keep using PayPal, I will loose too much selling things to USA.

Haha, I was mostly rambling about my PayPal exchange rate word in solidarity. They are pretty bad.
My thinking on the gift/services thing is that there is no way to refund, so they auto convert. When I have sent gift money to my euro buds it's always been in euro. They probably are more inclined to keep it USD if it's a services transaction. I don't know though...Mostly just rambling.
Also, support staff with bad/inadequate training...And corporations taking advantage of grey areas.

My last transaction wasnt as a gift... and they converted it to CAD. I called them and they told me that the buyer sent it in CAD (which wasn't the case). I lost 10 CND on this one.
I have a case open at PayPal for this transaction. I'm really angry with PayPal at the moment.
Edit: Typo

yeah. the conversion looked fishy when i ordered from fairfield. he definitely lost money to paypal on that accountant i ordered new. i checked the conversion rate on google first to see if going new or used would be cheaper. new was EVEN cheaper than i deduced from the exchange rate coz paypal are greedy, thieving, fucks.

What I hate the most is that Paypal are telling me lies. I cannot trust them anymore.

I just spent 2 hours on the phone arguing with PayPal... and they cannot do anything about it.
So I have to find another solution... I wont be able to sell pedals in the B/S/T at a good price if I'm loosing 5 to 10$ each transaction.
PayPal suck.
