i'd like to grab an oscilloscope, and i was hoping for something modern and TINY depth with a decent sized screen, but i can only find the old school super deep bodied buggers, and they seem to range from 5 hundy to THOUSANDS?

There are also a million on eBay with free shipping that are under a hundo? You want to make sure the bandwidth goes low enough for audio frequencies. I don't really know what else to look for. I had an enormous one years ago that I got for sixty bucks. The low E on my bass was too low for it, so, I wish I would have gotten one that had a lower rate.

A 1/4" to BNC cable will get you there, ignore the probes.

You need not concern yourself with range, every single functional oscilloscope on the face of the planet will do what you ask.

Yes, that linked tool can do more stuff than what you need, but that amounts to getting the settings correct for your needs and then just ignoring the rest of the controls. Hell, a CRT converted into a music visualizer will fill your need.

I first thought this thread was about oscillating fuzz too.

The nano is the size of a wallet or so I've heard. Pretty nice for on the go checking or just having a nice starter scope to check waves on the cheap.

My MOTU audio interface came with a software scope in 'Audio Tools'. I would love a standalone scope but every time I dig deep in my soul I decide to just settle for the software one I already own. With that said it's possible to get ahold of cheap or free functional software scopes if you don't mind being plugged into to your computer to use it.
