Wasn't the guy who did Valhalla Rising and Drive going to do a gritty reboot of Logan's Run? The original is awesome though, not much to improve.

Probably blind, since the last three have been prequels. Maybe check out Days of Future Past, that one was good.

Pretty sure it's fairly standalone. The past ones have been, at least.

Fun fact on Logan's Run: that weird, futuristic waterfall environment is the water gardens in Fort Worth, TX.
