WL mag: When did you decide to start a business making pedals?
JHS: It actually has a lot to do with ministry. I was a full time worship pastor in a church in Jackson, MS and we felt that God was calling us to IHOP in Kansas City. This was a year long process of transition and in that time my mods and custom built’s started to really gather a following and become a part time job. So I resigned, we moved and the pedal business exploded into a full time job. It felt like Divine plan.
WL mag: When someone hears “JHS” what do you want them to know about you as a company?
JHS: I think the industry is filled with a lot of the same things with different labels, and we’re trying to be different. We’ve found a niche where you either love them, hate them, or haven’t heard of them. I would like for people to identify us with quality products, excellent service and innovative ideas.
WL Mag: How does your background in worship ministry affect the pedal making business?
JHS: I’ve been a worship leader for about ten years now, and pedal making actually came as a random transition for me, I went from worship leading full time into the guitar industry. We love Kansas City, we love IHOP, we’ve just seen a shift in our ministry to the business side rather than directly inside the church. Right now we are getting directly involved in funding several mission works in the 10-40 window and JHS as a whole is really hitting it’s stride as far as business as a ministry.

My issue is that there's no public denouncing of IHOP and it's bigoted, dangerous and inhumane bullshit and the statement basically says JHS (the company) doesn't donate to IHOP or it's ilk, but whatever I (JHS the person) do or have done with funds from JHS the company is moot.
This is what he's saying on FB re his own involvement in IHOP

Maybe someone needs to explain what it means to "have ties with something" to Mr. Scott.
This is the same old "alternate facts" bullshit that the JHS crowd has been putting out ever since the conception of the brand.

At best this moves me from "actively opposed to the company on a fundamental level" to the realm of pure ambivalence coupled with extreme apathy towards their product line because
I'm glad to hear them say it, but vanilla is still the most boring flavor of ice cream so whatever. It's relieving to know (er, be told) that all those P&W people's money probably isn't being routed to some conversion therapy touting assholes through JHS.

Hey, maybe technicality JHS as a company/entity isn't tied to a religious organisation or activities, but Josh Scott sure as heck is. Also, as posted above, he has exploited this in the past to JHS' advantage.

A: I think in one way it's reasonable to give a fair shake to what he's posited in that facebook screenshot. It would be kind of shitty to lump everyone that works there in with the founder and namesake of the company, sort of the same way you can't blame your Apple Genius for the suicides at Foxcon. Sins of the father, if you want to stay in that ballpark. We'll get more to this at C)
B: The Devi Hyperion nonsense was real shitty, and that has nothing to do with what I think of their/his imaginary friend. Fuck that noise. I don't love Devi or even like Devi but that was some garden variety bullshit that got buried under the rug because Devi is her own worst enemy at times and it's really, really easy to dismiss her antics or go "lol console" or whatever.
C: I think it's disingenuous (to put it mildly) to claim the sort of disconnect that's being stated here when the company is small enough to number 25 people or so. You're not big enough to be hired without actually knowing the owner at that point are you?

people love bringing that shit up to apple geniuses/technicians anytime they're mad about their computer being six years old and not covered by warranty.
