What does everyone get for vacation and holiday time
I ask because I just finished what I thought was an urgent project zipped it off to a guy in spain and got an auto reply that he is out of the office for 2 weeks.

I know spain gets a ton of holiday and vacation time and I have the china holiday schedule in front of me.

Americans seem to get jammed on vacation and holidays, plus we seem to find a way to work even when we are off.


For the record i get a little under 2 weeks vacation and my company is stingy on holidays.

Also: We don't give people a week of PTO until 1 year of employment which I have argued to my boss is a crappy policy.


So who works the least??

I get 2 weeks after being here for 2 years. They have some weird tiered system, but people who work here the longest get like 4 weeks vacay a year. We can carry over 5 days from the previous year.

Stingy as shit on holidays though (we just downgraded to only working half days on Christmas Eve last year) and like 3 PTOs standard? It's weird. I really wish America wasn't so stingy with days off.

No holidays but I get ~5 work weeks of PTO that I can use for whatever. Pretty fair trade, I'd say.

3 month probation during which you can accrue but not use pto. 1 day earned every 2 weeks (pay period). Off federal holidays. My situation is far more generous than most. Havent had a problem taking off for weeks for tour.

With PTO and vacation I get 6 weeks a year. This is after being there for almost ten years though. I lose a ton of time every year because I don't get the opportunity to use much vacation time. Every time I plan some solid time off its gets rescheduled at the last minute.

I just had 5 weeks in a row off. Taking another 3 weeks in October, although that is accrued leave.

I think I get 33 days off a year, and I have the right in law to 3 weeks consecutive time off.

I could be wrong but afaik Swedish productivity isn't lower than anywhere else. GDP/capita hovers around similarly holiday-immune countries as Australia.

I get three weeks of vacation time, but if I carry over time I think I can get up to five? After I've been with the company for a few years I think I get an additional week? But I don't have any sick leave or anything like that...

5 weeks as standard plus I can earn up to 3 more weeks by working overtime.

I doubt working more makes any of us more productive either.

all we get here is PTO. thus, my medical/therapy/psychiatrist appointments and such kill off my vacation time. after two years i have three days of vacation/PTO time backed up.

i'm lucky, my company gives us 21 days, plus major us holiday, and all the days between christmas and new years.

10 days off, 2 personal days. But it's really hard to take any days off reliably because my team is fairly essential to regular operations, and we are all pretty independent in our jobs since there are only 3 of us including the boss.

I also get 10 sick days, but I can't remember the last time I actually used one of those.

I took a sick day in February of 2015, that was the last one,
I do take a few jetlag days but I still answer e-mails

Vacation this year I had one day where I couldn't log on but I did answer e-mails everyday I was gone and even did some quoting work.


I can't remember the last day that I didn't answer e-mails at one point or another
