Just hooked it up. I'll let it speak for itself in the quick test video i did during lunch:

So why do you want this even if you just have a little home studio room like me where the guitar cab is in the same room as you?

1) No getting up and down to play and record something, set, move it, go back, play, move repeat etc etc when if you're like me you're just placing it in a place you think it will sound good and leaving it.
2) You WILL take the time to find the perfect placement now. Sit at your desk, use the app on your desktop or phone and move it around until you get the sound you want.
3) It'll always be the same positions you want automatically!
4) PRESETS!!! You can set 6 presets so you can have one for your first guitar track and a different setting for your double guitar track which will get incredible results and you'll do it because it's as easy as hitting a button. Then when you're done you can put it right back to the original setting EXACTLY where you left off.
5) Tones tones tones! Get bright parts EQ'd without EQing them! Need a brighter lead? Back it off a bit... maybe try rotating the axis point. Just so many possibilities.
6) Cause it's fucking awesome! :D

Does this thing have a sensor which places the mic in the best sounding positions?

No, you use your ears and set presets where you like it best for different tones and you can recall them whenever you want.

:grumpy: I think I'm just gonna continue to pay one of the neighborhood kids to do this by hand then. It'll end up being cheaper and I'll still be supporting the local economy. :p

This seems like a nice quality of life adjustment, for sure. Moving mics is so 2015 (even if you have child labor).

I'm gonna mount my cabinet on some type of tilt/swivel forklift-style device.

Kids have attitudes, robots don't. The rise of the robots is at least a decade out. You have to start raising them now so when they decide to take over the world they will keep you alive as a slave rather than killing you.

Does moving the mic make noise that comes through a live mic? I'm thinking how fun it would be to sequence moves with it..

Unfortunately it does. I was surprised you couldn't pick it up in this video (or at least I didn't notice).... but I'm sure it would if it was clean guitar or lower volumes. I thought how cool it would be to get some long delay / reverb washes going and change presets on the fly to create a sweeping EQ but I think it would pick the noise of the motor up :grumpy:

You think that's a bad idea?

Should I tell 'em the position's been terminated in favor of an unpaid internship?

can you program movement sequences and stuff to automate during recordings?
that would be fucking wicked. otherwise it would just be cashing in on laziness, surely.

Not at this point. Just presets that you click from an app so it would be manual automation by selecting them as you go.

Far from just cashing in on laziness. I've already explained why but not interested in convincing you so if that's all you think it's good for then definitely not for you.
