Nashville?

So I'm gonna be moving there at the end of May to help out a disabled friend. Well, I'll be like just west of Nashville. Once I'm settled in and stuff, what's around for me to do? I know nothing about the city other than that it's the capitol of twangy pop/country. She doesn't know much about what's there for me to do since it's a massive challenge for her to even leave her house, so she's not very helpful here. I'm probably gonna need about a month or two to get settled in, get a state ID/drivers license and a job, but after that I'd like to maybe do things on the rare occasions that I do venture outside for fun and stuff.

What do you got for me, fuzz bros?

Its kinda whatever.... gruhns guitars is right down the street from a really decent bottleshop/taproom. I bought cowboy boots in a reeeallly trendy gentrified part of town.... local beer there kinda sucks. People are nice from what i saw. they get shows occasionally.

I'm hoping to catch Savages and Head Wound City there next month. And some good ILFolk live near Nashville.

Gonna have to check out gruhns guitars. I've never been into beer to the point where I'm into local/craft breweries or anything like that. Just really care that it tastes alright and gets me drunk lol, so that's not a problem.

Yeah, I probably won't be in a situation where I can see bands and stuff until mid summer once I'm settled in and employed. Hopefully some locals can chime in about any good venues/localish bands, places to hang out, etc, and maybe even to hang out sometime or something. Normally don't do stuff like that, but since I'm gonna be in a new area + have a roommate and stuff, it might be worth trying to change that up lol.

Is Murfreesboro still the sort of non-country hub for music/artsy fartsy types? I know it was, but it might be overtaken now, seeing that Nashville's going through a sort of mega yuppification ala Austin (or at least I hear). Curious.

Free Throw is a decent emo band from Nashville. Played a show or two with them. Good guys.

Cigarettes are super cheap there. Cheapest I can remember cigarettes being when I used to go on tour.

Gruhns has all sorts of cool guitars. Anything from Nelsons to Dan Armstrong's and beyond.

Good to know about cheap cigarettes. I typically roll my cigarettes, but I do like to splurge on a pack occasionally.

That's cool to know about gruhns. Definitely gonna have to check them out now .

And yeah, I'm curious to see what the people are like too. She says that the area she's in is made up of uni students + church types, and is pretty diverse, which is nice to hear. Especially the whole uni students thing, since that means there'll be a lot of people around my age to meet once settled in. Interested in Nashville as a whole tho. The only thing I know is what I said in OP + a few vague things from when my family visited when I was like 12, but that was mostly driving around and looking at touristy crap + visiting the Grand Ole Opry mall, which was cool. There was a music store in there, and some group of people were having a bluegrass jam in there.

I am excited about this tho, and you guys are definitely making the excitement worse. Thankd for the replies, dudes!
