It only really struck me last week that he was a real person in a real position of power. I believed for years that he was like the racist, stupid Boris Johnson of the US. He's not even 15% Boris Johnson. Shame.

Real position of power? he's a rich dude running a reality TV show on our political process, basically, but he's certainly not any sort of political presence. For better or worse.

Power in the sense that a worrying amount of people are actually listening to him and agreeing with his absurd sentiments.

That doesn't mean it is absurd. Supporting our troops is a good thing despite what you may think.

I do not think Trump has a good handle on what it would take to fix the VA, or that he would pay any attention to it beyond using it as a political stumping tool, particularly when it's given the same lip service as "build a wall and make mexico pay for it" and "annihilate ISIS and take their oil."

I didn't state it so I appreciate it's baseless, but I wasn't referring to the veteran side of it at all; I dismissed that entirely because it's so transparent. I was more talking about the other absurd things like you know, annihilate ISIS and take their oil? Or maybe the literal wall he wants Mexico to pay for? Those kind of seem like absurd things to say that are more prominent than great care of the vets.

I think ISIS should be annihilated and I would also prefer that Mexico pays for a wall instead of the USA. I am sure lots of folks agree with this. Just because you don't agree, doesn't make it absurd.
