LOCAL DELICACIES

Some of us wander around a bit. I'm always curious about what kinds of stuff the locals enjoy, as it gives you a bit of the flavor of a place. What's a cool thing/object/food/drink that you wish everyone knew about?

Michigan:

Pasties
Vernors
Faygo (Insane Clown Posse/Juggalo/Juggalette references welcome)
Coney Islands
Jet's Pizza
Beer--all varities (I don't drink, but there is a shit ton of interesting beer here)
Koegel's

Buffalo, NY:

Lloyd's tacos
Wings, I guess
Jim's Steakout
Again, beer
Cheese-covered everything
Spar's European Sausages
Weber's Mustard
Mighty Taco (fucking awful; many like it, though)
Loganberry Soda
Sahlen's hot diggity dogs

Whatcha got?

Green Chilis.

I can't even make breakfast without throwing a few chilis, onion, and a little garlic in the pan. What am I making? Wheaties. But seriously they go well with almost anything. Pizza, burrito, pasta, tacos, steak, rice, salads, you name it.

Daily reminder that nothing of merit comes from Connecticut, the state most famous for being a suburb of New York City and/or being the major North American exporter of AllFlow lacrosse frat bro rapists.

I'm not going to argue with that statement. It's the only state DMB can sell out 3 shows in a row for all the white hat wearing dude Bros drinking their #9

Bakersfield:
- Smith's Bakery (thumbprints, sugar cookies, and cakes...there was some industrial espionage going on to steal the thumbprint recipe)
- Dewar's (Ice Cream and the chews)
- Filling Station (some of the best coffee and iced drinks anywhere...very few can be beat it...and I haven't actually tasted any that does)
- Rosa's, Joeseph's, Sorella's...3 places owned by siblings...don't know how they are anymore though (I think all three have passed away)
- Basque Food (Largest Basque community outside of Europe)
- Rosemary's Ice Cream
- Rosa's Mexican Ice Cream
- Larson's Dairy (might be gone...used to be a drive through supplier...was awesome)
- Mr. Tibbs Ribs was supposed to be awesome (vegetarian here though) but he was killed by a whale http://www.turnto23.com/news/restaurant ... ds-on-boat I went to school with his daughter. That was really sad when it happened...
- I think Fabious Corner took over where Mr. Tibbs kinda left off in the BBQ department

Note: since the land was so cheap, Bakersfield has lost a ton of character and local awesomeness due to the influx of lame ass weirdos from outside. They came in, brought chains, and killed the local housing and business economy. So shit because people destroyed it (and the local asshole, smoking room, government/mob-like dicks let it happen). So much stuff is gone...Downtown Business Assoc., Lords of Bakersfield, Jagels, Multi-National Corporations, Track homes (DR Horton, Pulte, Lennar, etc), BPD, Kern County Sheriff, etc...thanks losers

Los Angeles:
- Taqueria Los Anaya/Gilbert's/Paco's
- Other Mexican food
- Oaxacan Food (not a fan though)
- El Salvadorian Pupusas
- Whatever someone cooler than you tells you is cool...LA sucks....go look at what they did to Bakersfield....seriously, Bakersfield had one of the best pizza places I've ever had and the dorks preffered BJ's for the damn atmosphere... (yes, including New York...I do Pizza tourism...figuring it is about 40% of my diet)

Eh, not that I want to move back to Bakersfield...but it used to have an identity...what a boring lame place now.
