Visiting Southern Japan

I think I've seen a few threads on the topic here and a few users live in Japan too soooo......
I'm going to (being sent to) Japan for work for a week on March 9th to do some work at a factory there and hopefully If I play my cards right I should have at least 2 full days off to explore, etc and possibly some free time at night. Thing is I am gonna be staying/working in Tamana, Japan which seems to be pretty rural from what I understand (I've never been). Anyone have any experience in southern japan? Things to check out? Record stores/live music/stores/etc? I can possibly get up north for a bit on a day trip too as work is buying me a 1 week unlimited metro pass (or whatever it's called in Japan) to get around. Any inputs??

I've never been in Kyushu (it's on the list of areas I want to go to though

), so I can't help much but the big city in that area is Fukuoka. The only thing I know about music-related stuff is that some Japanese chiptune artists are from there. Not super helpful, I know

.

Ugh there are so many things I want to buy while there too. I'd love to go on my own time and explore more so I think this will be a good primer for me haha.
I'm installing/assembling a machine for laser micro hole drilling (my work makes it). We ship the setup in pieces and a few of us go there to assemble and start up the whole rig. I just have to do the initial physical and wiring setup so that's why I should have some free time if all goes well.

Just wanted to say I just got back and if anyone is going down that way Fukuoka has some great record stores worth checking out, the music stores I found were nice but much more on the high end. They had some really cool Japanese made fender and LP clones but no used pedals or any cheaper stuff really. Also Fukuoka is just an awesome city in general.

I wanna say around ~$400 US and up, i saw Edwards and Grassroots brands.
It wasn't a cheap guitar shop by any means but here is a link to it's web shop.

Going to Japan in August myself. I was honestly playing my Edwards LP Custom at the time when I had the epiphany that I actually could just go there.
