Yet another delay conundrum

Really quickly: I was gonna try and nab a boss rv3 from the BST, but the ILFer selling hasn't checked in since last week (hope they are ok

) but my impatience got the better of me and I saw PGS are running out the TC alter ego v2 for $99US which is not much more than the RV3 would have set me back?
Worth it?
Not sure how long they'll be on sale for so trying to decide if I should just jump it or wait and see what happens with this Boss situation.
Why not both is sadly not an answer this time.

Rv3 has some cool sounds. I love mine but my only gripe is not being able to adjust the decay and tone of the reverb while using the delay+verb modes. With the TC you could edit something to suit your taste. That said I've never kept one of their pedals cause I spent to much time geeking out with the tone print editor instead of just turning some knobs and playing guitar.

Now, while the RV-3 sounds cool and all, it really needs fuzz or some kind of dirt for it so shine. Which might not be a problem, ever. I think the TC would get a bit more smeary and ambientish? And I think the base sound of the Chasm reverb that a lil bird told me you will have is not super far away from the RV-3 sound if I recall it correctly. Since it's not finished it's hard to say. Another sub 100$ delay could be the DE-7 which gets loads of love. Less options though

Don't have any experience with the Alter Ego, but fwiw...
You could flip that RV-3 for about the same as what you payed, in case you'll ever want to sacrifise it in favor or some other GAS related toy...
That's not the case with a pedal you buy new.
I just know that the RV-3 is the shit. The lack of controls for some of the parameteres in the verb+delay modes didn't bother me at all when I had one. And yeah, it likes some sort of dirt before or after it, or both. But hey, what doesn't sound better when you add a little dirt?
The DE-7 is always a great bang for the buck and an overal awesome faux-analog delay. But it's not the sparkly digital delay the RV-3 is, and it doesn't have lush onboard reverb or stereo outs...

I support this statement. It's a pedal im never getting rid of and I flip just about everything. It's great before and after dirt. I ran some synth drum through it last week and it got spooooky lol.

Yeah lots of good points here guys. Much to weigh up.
What I might do is contact the ILFer in question and make sure they're OK, and if I haven't heard anything by tomorrow morning and this sale is still on I'll get the TC.
I like toneprint editing plus there are a couple of modes on there that I know I'll gel with straight up, even if there isn't a lot of control over parameters like modulation on some patches.

You had me at smeary.
I am still chewing at the bit for that chasm.

Yeah I've given the DE7 some thought, too.

I had an Alter Ego for a couple of months a few years back. I never really got along with it - too much time trying to find a good sound and not enough time playing. But that's just me - aside from a few dirt pedals I tend not to like tons of options. If the RV3 doesn't work out, I can vouch for the unabashed badassery of the DE7, Disaster Transport, and Echobox

Had a DTjr, loved it, but it didn't play ball in my set up.
Also, no trails.
Always need trails.

I only flipped mine cause it was bleeding through and humming when it was off...
Or at least that's what I thought. Turned out my ehx freeze was the real culprit
There's now an Afterneath where the RV-3 used to be, but I'm finally slowly starting to miss having a 'real' reverb and a second delay on my board, so I'm bound to end up with an another RV-3 again sooner or later.
