There was a tv show in IFC a few years ago following contestants of the world beard championship. I thought that was the peak of the new beard trend. I usually have one in winter because I ride my bike all year and I live in Michigan and, well, it's really cold usually.

i too live in michigan and keep a beard. but i keep it year round because shaving sucks.

Can't grow one

I can't grow one. I have this stupid 2-3 cm bald space on my cheeks that won't fill out. Really sucks.

Beards are for people who are trying to hide something.

Three for three on bearded Michiganders. My hair is very coarse, and every single little curly beard hair gets ingrown when shaved with a razor. Haven't been clean shaven in probably a decade. Also, it helps me look older and unkempt, both of which are good professional moves for me.
