I've never really considered a Roland Cube (and may be a bit prejudiced about modelling technology in general) but I've recently acquired my first bass and I need a small amp that will sound okay at low volumes. It seems as if the Micro Cube Bass RX is quite highly regarded and meets my criteria. However, I wondered how it would interact with pedals. Has anyone got any experience of the Cube amps?

When I worked in a music shop I used one to test the guitars on. I preferred using it to our "real" amps because it sounded great at low volumes. Nothing was amiss using pedals with it, although I don't remember trying very many.

I used a Micro Cube Bass RX for small band practices for about a year. It worked very well with whatever pedals I sent through. Only issue is that it was a little bit too quiet when the drummer was in full swing. However, I ended up sending its external output into the PA speakers instead of to the Cube's internal ones, and that gave me all of the volume and bass that I needed when I was at practice.

Cool, probably anything of that kind of size would suffice at the moment. I don't really need all the additional features of the Cube although I'd probably use the auxiliary input for my SP404 or the Volca Beats at times. Does the signal from the aux input go through the effects?

Would it be okay to plug a keyboard/sampler into the standard input or would I potentially exceed the headroom or something?

Depends on what you're using but it shouldn't be a massive problem, I don't believe.
