which one of you put this musicians wanted ad on craigslist?
Christian Doom band "Disembowled Prophecy" in need of entire front and back line, including bass player, drummer, guitarist and sound person for upcoming shows and recording of EP. I'm holding down vox, so that's covered. Looking for people who can relate to the desperate human condition and the imminent, looming death and destruction of our natural world, within a Christian context.
The Band already has a following...and shows are booked for winter, spring and into the summer-- including a bunch of Christmas Bazaar appearances and 6 or 7 Ham 'n Oyster Supper performances. Our Pastor has already paid for studio time...and I'm hoping to record and release an EP by May 2016, in order to kick off a mini-tour through Lansdowne, Linthicum, and Dundalk.
Serious musicians only- please reply with age and experience. Must have your own instrument, and preferrably your own transportation (though my Pastor said we could use the Church van service to pick you up if you're near 21117). Please include links to previous band pages or samples of your playing. 420 friendly.

It's funny you can't really post what you mean without be laughed at it.

Thats not that bad. At least it's not a bunch of crusty dicks wanting to start the average hardcore/punk band.
But the rest of it is amusing.

I've been meaning for years now to post a CL ad + flyers to start a noisecore/grind/harsh noise band, with a really ridiculous description in hopes that it will weed out any non-insane/non-committed/actually talented people, but I never got around to it... Will post results if I ever do.

Hahaha this is great. I think it is serious...the ads make for really good reading. It does get really sad sometimes, though, as you hear about, say, older dudes who just wanna jam, but aren't very good, or have some physical issues. Taking yourself seriously on CL is the kiss of death.

'preferrably'
But I'm kind of with everyone else: the CL ads with delusions of grandeur are really the only ones I laugh at. Some people just don't have any other avenues to find musically-minded folks, like this guy.

Wish you were near me. that sounds like something I'd like to be a part of.

I'm likely one of those folks. Where else can one find people? I don't really go to shows often and the people I often see, at my rehearse space seem more concerned with dressing the part of their scene. It's hard to find people that don't take themselves too seriously and are talented/creative. Mostly I see people that dress the part and write stuff that is just a mirror of their influence(s) without any effort to make something different.

This is a really good idea actually that I've never thought to do. I've only ever posted sex ads on Craigslist before.

I started my band by answering a craigslist ad. I found one of the four reliable drummers in the area who wasn't already in 3 bands.

I don't know what Ham 'n Oyster Supper is but count me in. I hope it's alright that I'm technically a Satanist...

I saw this yesterday and it had me chuckling inside for quite a while.
The end is the kicker, "420 friendly "

am I the only one that doesn't think Disembowled Prophecy sounds right for a doom band. Seems like brutal DM.
Sure you got Disembowelment but they are exceptional.

I like how shoegaze some of their influences are.
Doom/Shoegaze/Post-Rock band looking for Drummer.
We've been a band for about a year now and recently parted ways with our drummer. We are looking for someone dedicated, creative and dependable that has their shit together. We play pretty heavy at times but wouldn't really call ourselves a metal band, that being said, we are not really looking for a "rock" or "metal" drummer. We're interested more in someone that combine elements of math-rock, doom, post metal, shoegaze, and post-rock in their drumming, also someone who understands minimalism in songwriting. Some people just get it...Please know the genres we play before responding, we don't want to waste anybody's time. Although we play heavier music we come from more of a punk background, so we still have that punk ethic when creating our music. We're all pretty laid back but are very dedicated. We play shows so hopefully you're a fast learner and we can start playing shows again. If you're interested, respond with some info about yourself, like: past experience, influences, etc. and let us know if you have any questions.
Here's a link of our soundcloud:

We have more songs fyi.
We practice twice a week, hopefully you can do that.
Some of our influences: Sky Burial (Tennessee) Blut Aus Nord, Unwound, Fall of Efrafa, Light Bearer, Explosions In the Sky, Mogwai, Electric Wizard.

I'm a drummer, and I like that stuff, but that's so 2000s and I hate being a drummer.

I like their influences more so because they aren't all shoegaze.
