What about using a butter knife to shove the cork inside the bottle? That's OK right?

I'd argue that it's not as clear-cut as that. I do tend to hold my glasses of wine with my hand around the stem just underneath the bowl, hence touching/holding it. I've been doing that for ages I think, no-one in my wine-loving family ever mentioned anything as far as I can remember.

Battle of frenchitude engaged ? :animal:

Dude, if you're from Vendée or Alsace, that's not a battle of Frenchitude. :poke: Seriously though, the point is that touching too much of the bowl will affect the temperature of the wine and therefore it's taste. But I guess, if you're drinking Beaujolais nouveau it doesn't matter anyways :lol:

With that said, I mostly like wines from the south of France and et Italy. Right now, I'm into:
Carignan vieille vigne, Côtes du Roussillon ;
Chardonnay, Côtes du Roussillon as well ;
Syrah of course, actually a Spanish one which is surprisingly bitchin' excellent.

That's about it. My supply for all three of these is over so gonna have to find new stuff to drinky drink.

Now, them's fighting words... :animal:

Seriously though, I get the thing about changing wine temperature but the fact is that in 99% of situations where someone is drinking wine, the temperature is not perfect enough to really make this an issue. And I have much better balance when holding it like that anyway (note that I'm not grabbing the glass with my paws, I make the bottom of the bowl rest on a couple of fingers...).

Anyway, over the years I've slowly gotten used to paying almost the price of a Saint Emilion for any type of decent/drinkable wine, which has had the side effect of me drinking less wine :grumpy:. I'm always amazed now when I go back to France and I see the prices in wine shops (not even talking of prices when you go directly to the vignerons)...

I'd rather just drink water.

Also : you don't drink water with fondue savoyarde. If you do the cheese will do bad things to your stomach. You drink white wine (from the Alps if possible) or apple juice.

And seriously, try some good white wines. They can be awesome. Some people like them dry, some people like them sweet. I like all of them.

I've tried a bunch of times. It's just not for me, and I eat/drink almost anything. :idk:

I'd rather have a semi-dry port or something. :drool:
