But I'm a sucker for cheap jokes at religion's expense.

They used to play every comedy show we went to in LA for a while (really, we would go to $5 show at UCB, they played, Festival Supreme, they played, different theatre opening for someone random, they played). Got really old, but now I kinda miss seeing them around, haha. Getting sick of seeing Joe Pepitone at every show instead (or Joe Manganeillo...dude thinks he is funny now and is always working his set out at the cheap shows). And that era of cheap, open seats is kind of gone too (tickets sell out the first hour they post now).
Yea, kinda miss 'em, haha. Their TV show was terrible though.

Riki had a show with Natasha Leggero called Another Period that was pretty funny.
Man I always forget you live in LA. Is the comedy scene awesome there?

Yea, pretty good. The cool stuff got found out by the masses lately so it is hard to catch a show sometimes*. Upright Citizens Brigade just opened a second location and they still offer 4 shows a night (usually on ASSSSCATT improv, one featured, one not-so-featured, and the open-mic newcomers). They vary from $5-10 and have always been great (been to over 50 of em in the last 8 years). It's BYOB and first come first serve seating. They always have pretty famous people doing cameos during the shows but they always do some kind of improv set up (like a game show, or superhero fight). Always famous people in the audience too.
Largo is a good place, but a little more expensive and you have to show up early for seat sign in (first come first serve). That is kind of the more artsy one...with more current TV stars but doing more traditional comedy sets (and a lot of stuff gets filmed here).
The big theaters like Comedy Store and Improv are kind of sad and espensive (like make you buy drinks and food)...they are kind of behind the times with acts sometimes too (it feels like they want do dig up Sam Kinison and throw him up there...).
Kevin Smith is always doing some kind of show (once a month I think) (as do a lot of other people...but his has kind of become a tradition I guess if it is still going on?).
Yea, it is pretty good and really cheap by LA standards really. I haven't been to the smaller traditional theaters, but my wife has and she said they are kind of like the Comedy Store. The Ice House in Pasadena is supposed to be awesome too (but it is mostly open mic). Meltdown comics and a few other places do stuff like this too.
The comedy scene is probably one of my favorite parts of living in LA. Festival Supreme for the last three years has been awesome too (avoided oddball comedy tour so far...had tickets once, but it didn't seem that cool)
*$5 to see a show with Weird Al, Andy Richter and a few other comedians on one bill isn't going to remain a secret for long...surprised it was under the radar for so long...it is just getting harder to get tickets as they are listed, which is probably why they opened the second location (and because they teach a lot of classes...so the school side probably needed more space too)

like a lot of this type of humor, I'd like it more if the bit was half as long….
