I recently quite graduate school. I kind of told myself was what I wanted to do/should do, to continue on that path of 'doing something with my life' or 'become X.' I realize, however, that I looked to grad school as a place holder for figuring out what I really want to do or should do with my time.

I don't have much faith in the state of the world, that things will continue to go on as they are for much longer. I think the best thing I could do right now is learn how to be totally, or as much as possible, self-reliant and learn as much as I can about how to take care of myself without the current infrastructure of our world. That being: supermarkets, police, etc.

Has anyone taken any survival classes or done work on a farm - learning sustainable agricultural practices? Any guides/websites to look into?

I'm in the SF Bay and I'm trying to find a farm up North I can volunteer at and exchange my labor for knowledge/room and board.

I still think we should all chip in, buy a big plot of land, build a community, and start the kvlt of fvzz

I would 100% move to the ILF commune. Family and all. I work a few days a month on a farm. I love it. Hopefully it becomes full time soon. It's much more knowledge based than I expected, as far as knowing how to amend the soul naturally, spot subtle deficiencies in plants before it gets bad, all that stuff. There's just lots to know. I don't mind the hard work side at all, or the learning, I just wish I knew it better

Thats a pretty sick idea right there.

There could be moonlit, cloak-wearing bonfires with amp stacks in a circle ala Stone Henge with a whole lot of fuzz.

I have an acquaintance starting a farm to table restaraunt up in healdsburg. They're having a really hard time actually making it all happen so I think it's a long time from being a real full time job, if ever.


And I will check out that book. I have a few but they seem more about making a better sustainable home garden. I want to grow loads of food

If they need volunteers, let me know. I'd be down to drive up and help for some school'n
