Is a record cabinet gear?? Oh well. I'm posting it here.

So today the wife and I went estate and garage saleing, followed up by some antique malls. We like old shit. So at the first estate sale we found this killer old record cabinet for $20, which is perfect to sit my player on, and, ya know, store records.

While it's cool as is, nothing is sacred and we make shit our own. So to Home Depot we went for supplies. It's veneer, so we aren't ruining an amazing hand carved piece or anything. It's gonna be darker on the outside, bright green inside, and all the brass will go silver. kinda like this, but with doors and dividers:

I'll post updates as we make progress :thumb:

After getting back from the Depot, we set to work. Tonight we got everything primed, and the brass parts are now "Titanium Silver"!

Do it!
With sales, sometimes you get lucky, but often you gotta wade through lots of junk to find the gems. We went to three other sales today, and bought nothing from them.

Yeah, it was inspiration, but not a project of mine . We got it inside, and I just didn't match anything, but was still cool. Everything else is either black or dark brown, so we just decided to paint it, and Googled for inspiration. Originally we thought about doing the inside red or orange, but wifey found the pic with green, and I have a bunch of green paint from my guitar room's walls, so it was decided.

Nice! I have an old metal frame record cabinet and a small one that's built into my record console.

Sweet. Before this week were using one of those ikea cube jobs. Works great, but this will be better.

I looked for one of these a while back but they only seem to pop up when you're not looking.

Please be sure to post the final result.

That shade of green is very attractive and cartoony/retro. It's perfect.
