Ive encounteres many family members who feels this way towards their own children or siblings. So yeah, I know yall are joking and thats cool, but just so you know, shit is real.

For reasons I don't care to disclose I have been aware of the AIDS community and the world's various reactions to it for much longer than I've been posting on ILF, and at least marginally more aware of it than the average bear is today. No reason to apologize for black humor.

I most people who bitch about "PC" anything are typically backwater thinkers trying to justify stupid beliefs, but I do think there's a real undercurrent of getting people to think in the "right" aka polite way about a lot of things that is much more prevalent that it was five or six years ago that can be particularly unhealthy. Some of the most savage people I've ever talked to, as far as joking about AIDS and the like, are people who were suffering from it, and I maintain it's a healthy response.

True that about bigots bitching to justify their prejudice before spewing an oppressive, prepared hate rant about whichever boogeyman du jour is attacking their freedom.
On the other side...from my (brief) experience on this planet, the most "vocally offended" people don't actually suffer from whatever debilitating condition or circumstances they are huffing about; but rather orbit around someone who is/does. They get loudly offended on someone else's behalf which IMO is a cynical pity-veiled elitist attitude. And quietly, making "it" about themselves.

The people who truly suffer and endure real pain tend to have the best attitudes and sense of humor about these things.
It's a way to not let "it" beat them, whatever the "it" is. Finding the lighter side of these things breaks a morose mood and makes people FEEL BETTER. The Irish sense of humor came to be from some real dark times in human history.

It bugs me how insincere people are able to selectively disassociate themselves from *uncomfortable topics* and laugh freely at the expense of others...until the topic hits too close to home in their little sheltered, myopic world. The same types of people who become new parents and immediately hang a "baby on board" sign in their car window...after years of disobeying traffic laws and blasting a 2000watt system while tearing through residential neighborhoods.
