OK. So we all want to be on records, yeah?
We've had a pretty good time putting together the drone comp.

Here's an idea for a record.

ILF DRONE COLLAB

Artists submit 5 minutes or less of drone. Like ONE sound. Not some fuckin masterpiece made of 18 instruments with a goddamn flute solo half way through.

The Curator mixes said submitted drones into TWO 20 minute pieces for vinyl pressing.

Now, I'm not 100% sure if Palamino/Dosado is still making records, but if they are, we should be able to get 100 records made for around a grand. Add in packaging/polybags/shipping, etc. and we're looking at about $1400. And if we can get $25 a pop for the LPs that means we break even at 56 units sold.

Then we're all on a goddamn record again, and hopefully nobody loses their ass on production.

So the idea is that the curator is basically creating two pieces where the samples/sounds are solely sourced from us? Sounds like a pretty good idea. Might have issues reining in the submissions, people love their flute solos.

I can commit to a contribution of no fewer than seventeen flute solos (synthesized).

I think it might be tough on the curator, but if someone is up for it, I'm down. It will probably take a lot of mixing, bouncing, mastering, etc to sound right. Could be some really interesting stuff though. I think the curator(s) would have to set ground rules to a point (like this is the key or something and give instructions). It's an awesome idea that I like though.

Way down the road, I'd like to see a band/punk/doom/whatever people are into one someday like the old bullshit detector and Japanese comps (great punk hits/city rockers/etc). Even an east/west blast test kinda thing (pair people up for a track almost randomly or they pick whatever...like a via mail production thing). Wish list haha.

Exactly! Well, I guess there could easily be 2 curators on an LP, seeing as there would be 2 pieces.

56 audio submissions x $25 each pays for the project.

First come, first served.

1-28 are worked into side A (Mixed/recomposed by curator a)
29-56 are on side B (Mixed/recomposed by curator b)

after that we just try to trick other people into buying Drone LPs.

I'm into that in a big way. Definitely down for submitting a drone, don't trust me with curating though!

not to be that guy though but we should probably blow all of the money from Drone Comp 1 on hookers and blow and fail to deliver that (maybe a kickstarter and a gofundme in the meantime because that's how you know it's legit) before we start really diving into Comp 2 and fail to deliver both.
