If people were as excited for free energy, permaculture and space stations as they are for computer games, we would have colonized the solar system by now.

There will always be a cost associated with harvesting free energy, nothing is free, however I share your enthusiasm for leaving this planet and exploring our galaxy.
Mostly I just hate most of the humans that lived here. If they said, "its cool, all the rad people are off to solve this food/water/air/space problem we have by looking above the ground and off of the surface," then I would jump for joy.
If they told me, "you aren't smart enough to go with them, though. You have to stay here with all the assholes." I'd be really disappointed but at least there'd be hope for humanity.
Until that day, I'm just gonna hone my skills in the currently virtual, although one day, inevitable wasteland.
Because Fallout is where we are going.
Fact.
We are to stupid to save ouselves.
Here's a kitten.

Fingers crossed my PC will be able to handle it. Don't want to build a new one.

You do live in Australia, so you've probably got a bit of a head start on wasteland survival skills. What, with Mad Max and all - that's what Australia is like, right?
