need some help with c tuning on acoustic

so I've kept my acoustic in dadaae for a long time but I wanted to go lower

I've been using gibson super ultra light acoustic strings or somethin

so to tune down to c I bought "lights" which are 12-53 because I heard 52 or 54 gauge is what you use on electric

the strings started to get real tight/hard-ish to turn once I brought em up to cgcggd, is that normal? I'm not fuckin up my guitar at all?

I feel like the strings'd break if you tried to go to standard how are these lights

unless I'm just not used to that much tension because I normally play with really thin strings

With two steps lower I'd advise as thick a string as possible... Might have to groove the nut... Tension Yes...

that depends on the scale and the make of the strings some times. a 54 tuned to C should feel like a 42-44 in standard on most guitars. The thing to watch if you are worried about the guitar is the top right behind the bridge, if you are pushing it the top will start to bulge/belly which is ok if it is slight but you really don't want that to go too far.

[you are tuning C F Bb Eb G C right?]

it feels pretty close to when I used .47 strings and tuned to dadaae

I hate stringing up and tuning a guitar this is the first time I've put new strings on it in a year

some acoustic strings are a bit less flexible than others depending on how they are made and what they are made from.. getting classical strings the right tension is frustration it's self.. at least with metal strings you know what for the most part the tension will be..

I hide some carts in the back of the park and every few months I send a load of carts to Bubbles along with some jalapenalo chips for Rickey...
