Space-savers / top-mount lovers!

Post by FuzzHugger »

I've been getting more top-mounted jack requests lately. Some of my builds aren't set up for top-mounted jacks, so I'll sometimes offer a taller enclosure (with the same footprint!) for top-mount requests.

Here's another alternative that'd work for the Algal Bloom and some AB-Synth builds: a 3.62" x 3.62" footprint, but 1.5" tall instead of the usual 1.18".
Here's the proportional comparison:

While we're talking space-saving, there's also the taller XS enclosure (like I used on Jrmy's custom AB-Synth below) to accommodate top-mounted jacks, which would work for a lot of builds:

Puttin it out there for you guys trying to shoehorn pedals onto your board. ;)

Better than being a power bottom! zing!!!!!! lol

I could care less about jack orientation. People get super weird about that shit. I've always managed to find a way. I can see both sides.

Looks cool Tom!

I think it starts being a concern when you have a smallish pedalboard and don't want a bigger one...or have 15+ pedals on one board. Then shit starts getting Tetrisy.

Fer reals.

It really does baffle me how obsessed people are with the top mounts. I mean, whatever. It's what consumers want and you're just doing it to make them happy!

Just for piece of mind Tom I have 20 pedals on my PT Pro right now and not all of them are top mounted, thank God. My solution to the top and side mounts was to have a mixture of pancake and regular style plugs.

What I'm saying is, baby you doing it right. You's a good man. :)

Top Mount Tonezzz... Side mounts take away some of the upper harmonics cause the signal passes through the pedal from right to left which is out of phase with the Earths magnetic field whereas the Top mounts travel up and down and actually multiply the upper harmonics because they run with the flow of the magnetic field...

I really like the aesthetic of the smaller footprint Bloom.
The position of the knobs/footswitch.
Beautifully asymmetrical.
