Didn't find an existing thread for this. The movie is on Netflix and I watched it the other week.

I'll withhold opinions until you all go watch it and tell me what you think.

He just reminded me of Michael Gira from swans. One of my favorites.

Liked that movie alot. I think the first half or so was the strongest, but the ending was also really good. Overall good balance of comedy and drama, and Fassbender was great as always.

It's so good. Watched it like a month ago, and have been wanting to re-watch it since.

I've been wanting to see it. I'm usually entertained by anything that Jon Ronson is involved with.

Loved it. Fun fact: all music was played by the actors live.

I'm glad to be in a group of people that dig that movie. My partner didn't like it so much, but I don't think she appreciates weird musicians as much as I do :joy:

Fassbender was great, Carla Azar is awesome, but Maggie Gyllenhall really stole the show...

I'll make sure to watch that before seeing Swans on Friday and giggle between scoldings of myself for forgetting earplugs.

What's even crazier is that it's based on something of a true story (though the details of the movie itself are explicitly not true, the character of Frank is based on a real performer who wore the head, did the whole outsider band thing, etc). Oh, and Jon Ronson played keyboards in the "real" Frank's band.

I really liked the music. I thought the movie was pretty good. I would watch it again and decide if I hated or loved it, I'm somewhere square in the middle right now.
