Anyone here collect edged weapons? I took a pic of my shanks today. All are fully sharpened and each has a special place in my home and vehicles.



Top two:
Fury tanto (cheap stainless but pretty rugged)
Lansky nonmetallic stabby (for courthouses, airplanes etc- JUST KIDDING)
Left to right:
SOG Flash II assisted-opening (my EDC since I lost my discontinued Warn series Benchmade Axis tanto )
Homemade tanto I ground from a broken dress saber (looks crude but will cut many dicks off)
Unknown builder, hand-crafted and very heavy fighting knife
Windlass damascus Kard w/ camel bone handle
Kershaw Camp 10 (splits wood like hot buttered pussy)
serrated Cold Steel Vaquero Grande (got second hand at a flea market as security to ward off tweakers when I was truckin' interstate) - has taken some abuse, lives in my van now
Cold Steel Voyager large Tanto with 50/50 edge, brand new and sharper than an ungrateful child
Cold Steel Scimitar Spike - unassuming but very useful, can cut rope and prepare Vietnamese meats, lives in my girlfriend's car
no-name "CIA lapel" knife

I've been meaning to get a EDC knife for years now, but every time I have the allocated funds I don't know what to get. All I know is that I'd want something that's black (to blend in my pocket), any other specs I don't know enough about knifes to have an opinion about. :|

Oh, my EDC is a Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T. (First Production Run).

I dunno anything about knives but the homemade one and the Voyager are sweet. Railroad spikes seem to be a popular item for turning into knives too. On the Internet, at least.

I have an ooold bayonet that came with my Mosin-Nagant but it's really more of a giant, vicious screwdriver than a blade

I've got a couple of Gerbers and a CRKT. All of them have nice gouges on the blade and are fairly worn down/used and abused, but I'll prolly never get a really nice knife. Thieves are rampant all over this town, and I use them for work all the time. Cheap and replaceable, it's the way I go.

I used to have a WW1 bayonet, I have no idea what happened to it, I lost it in a move.. I like knives like I do a lot of tools.. got a bushcraft type of knife a few months ago.. needs work but it's cool

I have a honey horn 9' Latama switchblade from the 1950's, a couple EIG's, and a bunch of Beltrame stuff.

My EDC is a Kershaw Volt II. It's lightweight and durable, and opens fast. At $24, it's not a big deal if I lose or damage it. I also have a Cryo that I grabbed to beat up on a camping trip. It's not as nice as the Volt II-- heavier, slower-- but it is a good backup.

My wife carries a Kershaw Chive. Now that is a dangerous little knife... for me. For her, it is perfect, since she is tiny. The blade is only 1-15/16" long, and the body is 2-7/8". I can barely even open it without feeling like I am going to slice myself.

I know there are better knives out there, but the ones I have fit right in that sub-$25 sweet spot that balances usability with my desire to not be given a hard time for spending money on knives. I reserve that for music stuff.

BTW, they rewrote the knife laws in Georgia a few years ago. They are pretty... open: Link. We can own butterfly knives, disguised knives (lipstick, cane, umbrella), switchblades, knives meant to evade detection, and throwing stars. Anyone can carry any of those, so long as the blades are less than 5 inches long. In fact, my knives aren't even considered weapons, or even knives, since they aren't meant for offense or defense, and have blades less than 5 inches.
