I am not particularly nerdy about it. I use cheap brushes. I like pens. I use a standard Pigma micron.

Paint is what gets me. Instead of blending colors I have I'll buy a ne tube of paint if it'll get me closer to what I want to see.

I know I'm not much of an artist, but like with pedals and music I want that extra thing to make it more fun for longer.

in my bag at all times is: mechanical pencil, Coptic liners [finest I can find] and moleskine or heavy weight paper, and occasionally a brush pen…
Need to set up a print space in mah basement, soon.

I LOVE brush pens. Have a a couple Kuretakes and a few different pentel brush pens. I'm trying to get better with a dip/nib pen. I use regular old speedball ink for the dip, or when I'm painting, but for the nice line work and in the brush pens, I use Carbon Platinum ink. You have to order it online, and its like $25 per 2oz bottle, but it's the shit. So black and dark, but waterproof so you can watercolor or use colored inks over it. And it's thin enough that it can be used in brush pens, fountain pens, and so on. I wish they made ink/watercolor brushes that had real thick handles, even for fine brushes, just because the small ones hurt my hands....

Growing up I was given at least 1 type of drawing-related art supplies every Christmas. For years. I still have quite a bit because I try to take care of things.
Also a 600+ page Blick catalog from 2006 that I cant throw away. Once upon a time I found it in the recycling bin of my building's mailroom or garbage room...I cant which, but it was probably the latter since I worked with the old super up until Feb of that year.

Anyway, it's like a Sweetwater catalog (which I also hang onto along with B&H Pro Audio, Mac/Snap-On Tools and so on)
It's labeled resources for art educators with an interesting nod to a classic Norman Rockwell painting on the cover.
Treasure is thrown away all the time. Someone once said something about that.

I haven't ordered anything, as my own resources have mostly gone toward music+a/v related gear and artists since about 2001 when I took a photography class.
It has, however provided me with education on various tools of the trade...and subtly lead me to art magazines during some dark days years.
Raw Vision, HI FRUCTOSE, Blue Canvas, ArtBox, Juxtapose really helped pique my interest into art gear...when I had the epiphany that everything is art gear.

Thanks due to mom for being the rebel in her family, and buying me pastels and markers and stuff as a kid. Mr. Sketch and Crayola BOLD colors, my favorites for life. Also The Far Side and Calvin & books.
Gary Larson & Bill Watterson are also high on my list of people whose praises I cant sing loudly enough.

Also was given a pair of Pierre Cardin pens with sterling grips...by a super narcissistic toxic friend who has long been cut from my circle.
Bad influence to say the least.
As for more good influences....2 fountain pens came from my grandpa, a Pilot 57 and a similar Parker...and a Mont Blanc Masterstock rollerball from mom.
Around 2011 I impulse-bought a set each of Staedtler Lumocolor, Fineliner, Triplus fibre-tip pens...and will be using them on my long-planned multimedia diy project.

I write a lot for uni and in journals and thangs so I got into fountain pens a while back. My two most recent aquisitions are the TWSBI Diamond 580AL Orange and a special edition Franklin-Christoph Model 19 from Anderson Pens. I got the 580 in a fine and the Model 19 in a medium and I'm really happy with both of them so far. Sorry, not very art related but it's not often I get to talk about this stuff with anyone.

Yeah I have some issues with it too. I might see if the extra platinum converter I have laying around will fit....

Well, since I haven't had one since I was a kid, not very. I used to be though.

While I'm interested in the visual arts, I've never put in enough time to improve my abilities in 'em. Every once in a while, I'll buy some nice pens or markers and draw with 'em for a short time. Then they'll get put by the wayside and neglected until they start drying out or I give 'em away to friends.

Or just get the $5 con-50 converter, which is a piston converter.

I carry around several pens in my day to day. I generally use semi-flexible to flex nibs, and while useful tend to run me a bit high, but still spending $150 on a pen is on the same level for me as spending $150 on a fuzz, specially since I use pens a lot, both for writing, drawing and calligraphy.
