What inspires you guys? Whether it's inspiration for music, art, to be a better person, to get you out of a funk..... what is it?

This Kipling poem always helps me.

Also a lot of the "life advice" given by Don Juan in Carlos Castaneda's books.

I've been keeping these two pages marked in the browser on my phone so I can get a little boost during the day.

What about y'all fuzzers? :snax:

for me it might be easier answering what doesn't inspire me. I'm one of those people where anything I come across can trigger inspiration. In terms of what repeatedly does it for me creatively though:

-back issues of Life Magazine (I cop everything from 'em - lines for songs, images for collages/artwork. Shameless rips.)
-new tunings
-certain artists that make me both jealous and eager to go make something (Wallace Berman, Robert Frank, John Cassavetes, Robert Altman, John Coltrane, Joni Mitchell, Unwound, etc)
-alcohol, preferably whisky and tequila. In the last year I grew a lot as a singer thanks to this.

last decent stuff I wrote was just an embracing of some major life failures
let down by some people and throwing out the game plan on a career and just started playing guitar
it was kindof a release of a ton of negative energy
Maybe I grew up in the 90s too much to write music from a healthy emotional place

Lately I've been inspired by things like:
-comic books
-coffee shops
-hurting people's feelings
-black metal
-cigarettes
-my digital recorder
-having a very bad panic attack

You might have just saved my entire work day with that!

Haha, I'm glad!
But it really wasn't a joke.
I've made two girls cry in the last month and that's been a fountain of feelings to use as inspiration.

Still laughing,
sorry
I just had someone cry in a meeting
didn't get inspired by it yet

maybe later

Sometimes it takes a while for the crying inspiration to come to fruition.

True,
maybe in a few days

I was so pissed in the meeting
I don't react normally to crying anyway
My Family is full of weepy people so at some point it doesn't mean much
