What is the cheapest/still safe way to ship any effects pedals you're selling?

Pedal -> bubble wrap -> box -> thick plastic bag (in case of rain or some idiot dropping it in a body of water) -> shitload of tape

I go pedal -> bubble wrap to sit it in center of box without it moving around -> box -> thin outer layer of bubble wrap -> postal satchel
the boxes and bubble wrap are all stuff i've acquired from buying pedals etc and i've never had to buy either from the post office

re-use stuff as much as possible!
99% of the time it just needs to be in a box with something to stop it jumping around but you can never be too safe.
some moron once shipped me a loose ibanez tonelok pedal in a plastic bag with nothing to protect it and that survived

pedal -> bubble wrap or packing peanuts -> pedal box -> packing peanuts and sometimes bubble wrap or air cushions -> bigger box completely masked with tape

I use whatever I have laying around normally it's stuff I have received with other pedals
always have a layer of bubble wrap or foam from work and I always ship in a box
If the box needs some filler a bunch of stuff works from Newspaper to old grocery bags
or coffee and toys and candy if you want to chuck em in
USPS is the best as far as cost and security from what I have seen
Given all the screwups we have from fedex at work I hate dealing with em

smallest box that still allows for pedal and sufficient bubble wrap/protection, then layers of packing tape. I like keeping the box small to ensure a snug fit and for cheaper rates.

I've used USPS for yearrrs...several thousand shipments, fewer than five lost packages. USPS Priority is a good price and generally takes 2-3 days in the US. Not bad at all.

Pedal -> bubble wrap (on top I place a card sleeve, a Magic: The Gathering™ card, and a business card with my info/a short note written on the back) -> small box -> lots of tape
Usually it costs me $6-$10 to ship pedals.

Tom knows packaging and shipping

My fuzzhuggers always turn up safe and sound, and relatively fast.

I'm with Tom. We ship via USPS priority if it is residential and small. UPS if it is a larger/heavy/commercial package. I won't touch Fedex.
And we mostly use a pedal>>packing material>>box>>tape. I have never had a pedal ruined in shipping.

USPS Priority has never done me wrong.
Only thing I do different is use scrunched up butcher paper instead of bubble wrap. Only reason is because I bought I giant roll for a design project back in the day and still have a shitload left.
